What's Your Secret Sauce?

Five ways in which I think I have Human Capital:

1. Passion - I am a very passionate person. I feel things deeply and holistically. I tend to connect emotionally to whatever it is that I am doing. My passions fuel my purpose in everything I do and give my life more meaning.

2. Attention to detail - I have often been described as a perfectionist by my friends in family. Whether I'm working on school work, client work, or helping out my friends or family, I give 100 percent of myself and take the extra time and care to make sure things are done right.

3. Connection - It's easy for me to find ways to connect with people. I am always ready to listen to someone else's story or point of view and learn about their different experiences. I believe even the most polar opposite of people can find points of intersection.

4. Adaptability - Growing up in a big blended family, I've learned how to balance different personalities. I can easily adapt to whatever environment I'm in and find ways to connect with different people.

5. Lifelong learner - I'm always hungry to learn new things about myself and the world around me. I'm constantly curious about why things are the way that they are. I'm always seeking new experiences to push myself out of my comfort zone.

Reflection:

I think my view of myself was right in line with my friends and family's perception of me. Many of them mentioned how passionate I am, how creative I am, how strong-willed I am, and how much I give of myself to help other people. I am not the type of person that likes to experience all the attention on me, so it was weird hearing my friends and family talk about me in this way. But it was also nice to realize that they appreciate these things about me and see these as good qualities. My family definitely knows me best!

  1. It is always interesting for you to ask those closest to you what they actually think about you! Your family and friends believe you are a strong, driven person who gives 100% in everything you do. I always enjoy reading your take on our assignments and can see that you put your all into them. Those qualities are recognizable both in and out of the workplace and help to make real connections which is great Human Capital!

  2. Hi Grace. I can relate about not liking so much attention on myself, and it was a bit awkward for me to have to ask what others thought of me for this assignment. Though, it is nice to hear the good things others see in you. You have some great qualities. I like that you mentioned connection as being one of your best qualities. It is great to be able to connect with others and to learn from others who have different view points and find ways to connect. It is also important to continue to learn throughout our lives and that will help you to stay successful in whatever you do.
